Oh yeah I remember when I setup some merchandise for a clan I was running. The idea wasn't to cover costs, but just for people to buy a hoody or sweatpants to game in, or a mug for the office or something. Like you say, it's expensive anyway, but for you to make some money on each item to help cover costs for the clan it would become unaffordable for most.
I remember getting my wife to buy me a hoody for Christmas one year with the old clan logo and "DrunkMonk74" on it. She realised then how geeky I'd become

That is pretty geeky
Our point is not to earn but to cover, I do a lot of development/hours in this myself, donations are mostly ment for members to keep the community running though.

Exactly, I rather sell the shirts and hoodies at cost price so everyone could buy one. The donations are only for the running cost of the clan website. Other important resource: time and people, we do for free.
Nobody is obligated and we will keep the site in the air with the admins only if needed but I do believe that if you drink one beer a month less, then you could donate 2x12=24 euro. So if every member follows that mindset, we would have the yearly goal easily. I don't drink a lot so I give a gin tonic each month.

Yeah agree. Selling merchandise at cost would be more affordable for most.

Indeed. I think you have great ideas and your enthousiasm is wonderful. Great added value to the community but for the love of god... don't kill me on the battleground !!
