Discord vs Teamspeak

Are you sure theres 80% lol?
Personal opinion goes to teamspeak and whatsapp for me. Find discord more work to navigate and even read text compared to whatsapp, too many bright colours, team speak looks so much cleaner and tidier. And personally mic quality isnt as great either.
Thats just my two cents.

I think I have tested enough to make a valid opinion. It's my opinion only, I don't represent a group of people. Everyone needs to test himself and make his own mind. I did the test because I didn't want to say just "no" to the requests of the newer people in the clan. We are all adults here so we need arguments to make a decision.
I was pro TS after last test 7 months ago. But I went to use again with an open mind and removed my sceptiscism.
TS pro: Don't change if it ain't broken.
TS pro: A human likes his habbits. We have a natural resistence to change.
Voice quality between TS2 and TS3 was big. difference between discord and TS is very small. Just as skype or wathsapp call dont sound the same but are equally good.
Discord pro: As I do recruitment, I see it every day: discord is fully present. The market is being dominated by it. People give a quick direct link (click and you are on the channel) iso of an IP address of TS which the user need to create a bookmark for. Probably also need to download the program (big barrier!) as discord is something they use already, even when not in a clan but for just playing with their friends.
This also means that the further we go in time, the more new people join the clan. The more the habbit of discord is bigger. So the pressure on having discord will never go away. The question will come back regulary.
Discord pro: interface and user management is super easy. Everyhting is there: kick, ban, volume control, user roles: all can be changed of a user by a right click on his name. Also private messaging.
Discord pro: We all like our avatars. You see them everywhere next to your name in voice and text chat. TS only visible when you click on a name.
Discord pro: file sharing as it should be. TS is just painfull to use for this.
Discord pro: text chat and youtube links: nice preview thumbnail, big smileys, just a modern text chat. TS chat looks like ICQ in 1999.
Text chat is linked to user rights and not a gaming channel. Members only text chat, members and recruits, all people.
You can edit or delete message after sending. you can not on ts or whatsapp.
Discord pro: mobile app is free. TS costs 5,5 EUR! App is really well built. All functionality is there.
Discord pro: 1 communication tool vs TS + whatsapp. First reaction was "ej I like whatsapp! :(" But is actually really good app. Biggest benefit is that you don't need phone numbers to store. And for new people entering the chat group: discord is with the game nick name. Whatsapp phone nrs and real names are very confusing for new people. you dont know who is who.
Discord pro: AFK people get moved automatically to AFK channel
you who is online even when not yet connected to voice chat.
you see the game people play under their name.
No issue on server IP that gets changed after maintenance
No discord down due to server maintenance. Never heard of it at least.
More options to integrate on the website. Makes our site even more fancy!

As said, the big advantage is that a new person doesnt need to memorize 13 people names and phone numbers. For us it was each time one extra, for someone new it is 13 at once. Plus your chat is sync between mobile and pc.
